Having visited the Venice Biennale, I saw an artist used mirrors in his work, where you could only see a blank page but when you looked in the mirror you could see the image. I felt I could incorporate this into my work as I felt it show the difficulty in trying to remember things, and things mostly appearing blank to someone suffering with Alseihemers disease.

Filter Paper Experiments
Paper Chromatography process - water filters through paper causing dyes of the ink to bleed out...I feel this technique is like memories bleeding away.
Old Photographs - Memories
I began searching for old photograph, some my memories and some my Granny's, and began rephotographing them in an effort to recapture memories. I am currently researching Appropriation artists like Sherrie Levine and Richard Prince who deals with nostalgia.
Third Year
This year, for my project, I want to explore how important memories are as part of a person's identity. Everyone's memories are unique to each person. If you lose the memories, you lose your sense of identity. Many of my memories growing up involve growing up on the farm and my granny. My granny, who was an important person in my family's lifes, developed Alzeihemers disease in her early 60s and a result ended up with no memories of her husband, children, grandchildren, friend, the farm or her sense of self. Because of this, the concept of memories and identity has an important resonance for my project, as both memories of growing up on the farm and the effect of Alzeihemers disease on my Granny's memories and identity are intertwined.

Some More Photoshop
I've been experimenting with some photoshop images of Enda Kenny and the Joker from the batman movies and experimenting with the opacity of layers to merge the faces together.

More Digital Work
I've been reworking the Wrong Direction cd cover as I wasn't happy with the first one I had done and I'm much more pleased with how this one turned out. It's definitely not perfect by any means but I'm really happy with the results as I hadn't a clue how to use photoshop before I started.

40 Banks Photograph Series
These photos, inspired by Ed Ruschas '26 Gasoline Stations', were taken in Clonmel, Limerick, Cahir, Fermoy, Tipp Town, Mitchelstown, Cashel and Cork City. Each bank represents a year that our country's debt has been spread over.
