Natural Physical Decay

At the moment I'm really interested in how physical, natural decay mirrors the cognitive, mental decay caused by Alzheimers disease so I plan to focus on this part of my project for the next few weeks.

Natural decay, in particular rusting and lichen and moss growing, is seen throughout the world and indicative of change and ageing over time. I began photographing landscapes where personal family memories had taken place and recorded how nature and decay had affected and changed them throughout the years.

Fourth Year - 'Transience'

‘Transience’  -  exploring  the  transient  nature  of  life  through  the  prism  of  memory  and  examining  how  memory  is  continually  refracted  through  the  course  of  a  person’s  life  until  decay  takes  hold,  informed  by  a  personal  experience  of  Alzheimer’s  disease  in  families and  examining  how  the natural,  physical  decay  of  a  landscape  can  mirror  the  degenerative,  cognitive  decay  of  memory  and,  by  extension,  a  person’s  identity.  Themes -  memory,  identity, ageing,  disease,  isolation,  loss,  decay  and the  constant  flux  of  life.

Premier Pro Woes

Video finally edited and fully rendered

However exporting is proving to be a problem as for whatever reason it seems to crash. I have it exporting overnight in college and I can only hope it works this time after days of disasters. However I have it fully rendered and able to view on my memory stick for assessments on premier pro.

Keep your fingers crossed for me!

Shells and Shadows of People

As Alzheimers destroys memories and therefore identity, I began creating just shadows of my family members, focusing on erased silohettes through monoprinting.
