More Collographs :)

Collographs!!!

For the past 3 weeks I've been working on the collograph part of the identity brief.  I'm still contrasting Clonmel and New York but also finding a link between the 2. The link I've chosen is apples, as New York is known as the Big Apple and Clonmel's main industry is producing Bulmers cider from apples grown in orchards beside the town. I've been focusing on the texture of the bark of trees and the vein network on leaves and trying to incorporate that into imagery of buildings and maps. Collographs are proving kinda tough but sure I'm giving it my best shot (I hope! :P )

More Silkscreen Prints :)

Silkscreen Printing - 'Notions of Identity'

In print now (yay! :) ) and our brief is 'Notions of Identity' which we will be investing through collagraph and silkscreen processes. I'm starting off in silkscreen. For my notion of identity I'm contrasting the identity of Clonmel ( the town I'm from) with the identity of New York ( a place I recently visited and loved ). As well as the identities of the places themselves, I also want to investigate my own identity and how it differs in the 2 places.

I started off doing prints of the view from the Empire State Building. As it was quite a detailed photo I first put the image on photoshop, changed the levels and added a bitmap to it so the image would hold the detail when I transfered it onto the screen.
